I thought that now that everything's settled after coming back from the end of the world I may as well make the formal request:
I would like to offer my services to the team.
I'm not going to deny there are risks, but right now the team is down to one telepath. My range is limited, but I'm experienced -- and it would mean acting as telepathic support would be one less thing for Nathan to worry about in combat situations. I'm aware that not every mission involves anything so dramatic, and I believe my time with the team last week has proven I can be of use in less extreme situations as well, but in the event it does come to a fight I fully intend to hang back and let those with the appropriate training handle things. I'm not a fighter. I won't get in the way of those who are.
I gave Alison my dossier before we went to find Nathan, and I'll give it to Scott and Ororo as well. I've made significant progress with my DID since last I was here; my more dangerous personalities no longer manifest in ways that might pose a threat to myself or others. I had a lapse with Nathan's father, which I have discussed with the professor. As I told Ororo, it happened as the result of several very specific triggers -- the sort that are unlikely to occur on a mission. Now that I know what these are I can monitor myself against them; I did so in the five days spent in close proximity with Saul, and never approached a dissociative break. And even when I did slip the real danger -- my alters' access to my telekinesis -- never presented. The locks Charles put in place held. However, in the event the worst case scenario does come to pass you'll have the necessary information to get me back under control, after which I will immediately remove myself from active duty. I wouldn't ask you to allow something like that on the team.
If after all this you think I'm unsuitable, that the risks are too high, I'll understand -- but I had to ask. This is something I want to do. If you can use me, I'm yours.
Thank you for your consideration.
